About this opportunity

EMMIR (European Master in Migration and Intercultural Relations) is a two-year Erasmus Mundus Joint Master run by a network of partners in Germany, Norway, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Ghana, Uganda, South Africa and India — described by the programme as the first African-European-Asian Erasmus Mundus programme in migration studies. Edition 14 (2027–2029) studies together in Oldenburg, Germany and Stavanger, Norway.

Funding options (deadline 20 December 2026, 23:59 CET)

  • Erasmus Mundus scholarship (merit-based, limited): €1,400/month for 24 months, plus health insurance, university registration and student-service fees. Mobility costs (travel, visa, residence permit) are paid from the stipend.
  • Non-fee-paying self-funded place: no participation cost, but you must prove you can cover two years of living costs — for a German student visa that means a blocked account of €11,208 for year one.
  • Fee-paying self-funded places (€4,500/semester) stay open until 15 July 2027.

Key rule

Your first degree must be completed by 20 December 2026 — no exceptions. Previous holders of this scholarship cannot apply.
