About this opportunity
This is one of the few genuinely open elite scholarships. Stanford states plainly that there are no restrictions based on age, nationality, college or university, field of study or career aspiration, and no quotas by discipline, programme or world region. A Cameroonian applying from Yaounde is judged on the same footing as anyone else.
It funds up to three years of any full-time Stanford graduate degree, covering tuition and fees, a living stipend and one annual return flight.
Two things end most applications. The first is the degree-recency rule: your first bachelor's must have been earned in January 2020 or later, which quietly excludes anyone who graduated more than about seven years ago, however strong they are now.
The second is the structure. Knight-Hennessy is not a scholarship you win and then use. You must submit a completely separate application to a Stanford graduate programme, due by the earlier of your programme's own deadline or 1 December 2026. MBA applicants must use Round 1. People see the October date, apply to Knight-Hennessy alone, miss the December programme deadline and become ineligible.
Closes 6 October 2026 at 1pm Pacific Time, shown here as 20:00 UTC — 9pm in Douala.
