About this opportunity
About the fellowship
The AfricaLics PhD Visiting Fellowship Programme brings PhD students from African universities to the University of Johannesburg for a three-month research visit (6 Sep – 3 Dec 2027), with online activities starting in February 2027.
Fellows take part in courses and mentoring on innovation and sustainable development and work on their thesis with senior researchers.
Who can apply
- Enrolled PhD students at an African university who will have finished their first PhD year by December 2026
- Nationals of OECD/DAC low- and lower-middle-income African countries (Cameroon is lower-middle-income on the DAC list). Women and applicants from low-income countries are encouraged.
- Background in economics, sociology, political science, science and technology policy, geography, history, development studies or STEM, with research on innovation and sustainable development
