About this opportunity
SHE-CAN finds young women from low-income households in a handful of post-conflict countries and gets them into US universities on full scholarships — then stays with them through it.
What it covers. A full-ride scholarship from a US college: tuition, housing and meals. SHE-CAN also pays for test preparation and English language exams, passport and visa fees, one flight to the US and one home, textbooks and health insurance. Each scholar is matched with four to six US mentors and gets leadership training and help finding summer internships.
Who can apply. Women aged 17–20 who have finished secondary school or will do so by June 2027, from a low-income household, consistently ranked near the top of their class, already leading something at school or in their community, and speaking strong English.
Country rounds. This card is the Liberia round, which closes 1 November 2026. SHE-CAN also runs Cambodia and Guatemala rounds, both closing 1 October 2026. Applications opened 1 July 2026.
Cameroon is not one of SHE-CAN's countries — the programme currently works in Liberia, Cambodia and Guatemala only.
This is a long process rather than a form: SHE-CAN coaches selected candidates through standardised testing and US college applications over many months. Apply early in the window if you can.
