About this opportunity
The Cecil Renaud Educational and Charitable Trust sends up to two South Africans a year to the United Kingdom for postgraduate study, on a full scholarship.
Who can apply. You must have attended secondary school in KwaZulu-Natal, be under 27 at the time of application, and be either doing an Honours postgraduate degree or in the final year of a four-year undergraduate degree at a South African university. A strong academic record is expected.
What the trustees look for. Academic excellence, potential to make a real difference in your field, leadership shown through what you actually do outside the classroom, and a commitment to South Africa.
How to apply. Download the application form from the Trust's apply page, complete it, and send it with your supporting documents to apply@cecilrenaud.co.za. There is also a postal address on the form. Shortlisted candidates are interviewed after the deadline.
Deadline. 30 September 2026.
This is a South Africa–only award with a provincial schooling requirement, so it is narrow — but for someone who fits, it is one of the most generous routes from a KZN school to a UK postgraduate degree. The Trust does not publish the value; ask before you build plans around it.
