About this opportunity
IAPS runs a short, paid fellowship for people who want to move into AI policy work — and it is deliberately open to people without a technical AI background.
The money. Fellows get $18,000 for the three months; Senior Fellows get $24,000. In-person tracks in Washington D.C. or London add $3,000. Healthcare benefits and a $500 professional development stipend are included.
When and where. 22 February to 14 May 2027, with tracks in D.C., London, or remote. Every fellow — remote included — must attend a two-week in-person kickoff in Washington D.C. from 22 February to 5 March 2027.
Eligibility, carefully. No particular background is required; IAPS invites applicants from policy, technical, academic and government work. The D.C. track requires the right to work in the United States for the fellowship dates — IAPS does not sponsor visas. For the remote track, eligibility varies by country; write to fellowship@iaps.ai and ask about Cameroon before you invest time in the application.
Deadline. 27 September 2026. IAPS publishes the date without a time or zone, so this card counts down to the end of that day in UTC — submit well before then rather than in the last hour.
What they say they are looking for: people who want to build a career in AI policy and take the implications of frontier AI seriously.
