About this opportunity

Eni Award 2027 — Young Talents from Africa recognises two early-stage African PhD researchers working on energy and the environment.

What you get

  • €25,000 per winner, paid in two instalments of €12,500
  • A customised plaque
  • Travel and up to two nights for you and a companion at the prize-giving ceremony in Italy

Who can apply

  • African citizens (any African country)
  • Born in 1986 or later
  • In the first or second year of a PhD at a university or research institute in Africa, as of the deadline
  • Research in natural sciences, engineering/technology or agricultural sciences, with benefit to an African country or region

Eligible topics (examples)

Renewables, grids and storage · new energy/environmental materials · hydrogen and non-fossil fuels · decarbonisation and CCUS · energy efficiency · circular economy and green chemistry · water, soil and air protection · desalination · biodiversity and sustainable agriculture.

How to apply

  1. Coordinate with your PhD supervisor or programme director — their presentation letter is mandatory.
  2. Email eniaward@feem.it to request access to the private application area (name, date of birth, PhD institution and country).
  3. Upload all documents in English and sign the candidature summary before 20 November 2026, 17:00 CET.
