Admission-fee waiver (¥28,200 for the preparatory course, ¥282,000 for the undergraduate course), a full or partial tuition waiver across the 4.5 years, a monthly allowance of up to ¥120,000 during the six-month preparatory course, and subsidised university housing for the first 12 months.

About this opportunity
Kyoto University's International Undergraduate Program (iUP) takes students straight from secondary school into a Kyoto University bachelor's degree taught in English, with an optional six-month Japanese-language preparatory course first. No Japanese is required to apply.

Who can apply
- Non-Japanese citizens, worldwide — Cameroon included. Dual nationals must take up non-Japanese nationality by enrolment.
- Secondary-school leavers with a strong academic record
- English proficiency is expected. Kyoto does not set a hard cut-off, but successful applicants typically have around TOEFL iBT 90 or IELTS 6.5.
- Japanese language is not required at application
Cost to apply ¥9,800 plus a ¥429 processing fee, non-refundable.
