About this opportunity
What it is
A three-month virtual fellowship run by the Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa, building the next layer of African data-governance and digital-policy leaders. The 2026 cohort starts in October.
The six themes
Digital rights · data sharing · data value chains · digital public infrastructure · regulatory interoperability · data sovereignty. You pick one.
What fellows do
- Attend bi-weekly masterclasses with sector experts
- Take up an institutional placement in your own country's data or digital policy ecosystem
- Write a detailed policy brief and a blog post on your theme
- Present your findings at a closing workshop
Expect to commit at least two hours a week. You need reliable internet and a computer.
What you get
Up to US$1,500 on completion, a pan-African professional network, and your work published on CSEA's platforms.
Who can apply
A postgraduate degree, at least one year of professional experience, and current work in data governance, digital policy, AI, technology or a related sector. You must be from and resident in an African country.
Applications are accepted in English and French.
