About this opportunity

Yale runs a summer academic programme for secondary school students from around the world — seminars, lectures and a capstone project on the Yale campus, alongside students from more than 100 countries.

Two rounds, one programme. Early Action closes 15 October 2026 (decisions by 11 December, $85 fee). Regular Decision closes 6 January 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern — that is 5:59 a.m. on 7 January in Cameroon — with decisions by 10 March 2027 and a $100 fee. This card counts down to Regular Decision. Early Action applicants who are not admitted outright are rolled into the Regular pool, so applying early costs you nothing.

Who can apply. YYGS accepts applications from all countries. Students are typically 15 to 17 and in the equivalent of US grade 10 or 11 — one or two years of secondary school still to go. Check the eligibility page against your own school year before you start.

Money. There is tuition, and YYGS says significant need-based financial aid is available. The application fee is separate from tuition, and fee waivers are available — if you request one and it is approved, applying costs nothing. Request the waiver before you submit, not after.

What you send. An online application with written responses, plus references from a parent or guardian, a teacher and a school official. Line up the school official reference first; it is the piece that most often arrives late.

Apply through the YYGS applicant portal, linked from the deadlines page.
