About this opportunity

Princeton in Africa places young graduates in twelve-month jobs with development, health, education and conservation organisations across the African continent.

Since launching its Nexus track in 2023 it has actively recruited people educated and living in Africa, and from the 2027/28 cycle all applicants use the same forms regardless of where they studied. A Cameroonian with a degree from a locally accredited four-year university applies on identical terms to a US graduate. There is no nationality restriction.

Placements pay a living stipend and cover housing and full medical, evacuation and security insurance.

Two requirements disqualify most people. You must be born on or after 1 September 1992, and you cannot be enrolled in any graduate or doctoral programme during the fellowship year.

The costs are the practical catch. There is no longer an application fee, but if you accept an offer you pay a USD 350 placement fee, and depending on the post you may have to fund your own return airfare, pre-departure medical costs, part of the visa, and part of the travel to the mid-year retreat. Financial aid is available after placement for those who show need.

Closes 26 October 2026 at 23:59 US Eastern Time.
