About this opportunity
What it is
The University of Lausanne awards around ten excellence scholarships each year, exclusively to students who graduated from a foreign university and whose academic results are of a very high standard.
What it covers
- CHF 1,600 per month for the minimum statutory length of the master's programme
- Exemption from the standard course registration fees — only the CHF 80 semester fee remains payable
UNIL states plainly that this does not constitute full funding: the amount does not cover the whole cost of living in Switzerland. Budget for the gap before you commit.
Who can apply
- Hold a foreign university degree recognised as equivalent to a Swiss bachelor's before the master's starts
- Outstanding academic results
- C1 in French (for French-taught programmes) or English (for English-taught ones)
- Not currently enrolled at UNIL
- Pay the CHF 200 administrative fee
Additional conditions apply for Finance, Psychology, Arts and Nursing masters — check the Admissions Service page.
How to apply
Prepare the whole file as one PDF, register online and upload it. Have two referees email their letters directly from professional addresses to mastergrants@unil.ch — only letters sent after your online registration count. Applications sent by email, or incomplete ones, are not considered.
Closes 1 November 2026.
