Leaders of Africa Research Communication Program 2026

The Leaders of Africa Institute runs a short, practical programme on getting research out of the journal and into the hands of people who act on it — policymakers, funders, communities and the press.

The money. Tuition is listed at $4,000, but every accepted applicant automatically receives an Impact Scholarship worth around $3,700. In practice participants pay roughly $250–350, and payment plans are available in some cases. There is no application fee.

Format. A live virtual cloud classroom of about three hours a week, plus individual meetings with the professors. It runs from November 2026 to January 2027, with mentorship continuing afterwards.

Who it is for. Researchers, faculty, practitioners and advocates, in any field, anywhere in the world. There is no stated degree requirement, but it assumes you have research of your own to communicate.

What you send. A CV or resume of up to 5 MB and a statement of interest of no more than 500 words covering your research interests, your background, what you want from the programme and where you are heading.

Deadline. 16 October 2026. Applications go through the Institute's portal, linked from the programme page.

Admission is competitive — the Institute says it builds each cohort deliberately rather than admitting everyone who can pay.
